This book features a worm as the main character. It is written from the worm’s point of view. The worm tells his story through a journal style of writing. It is a great story that my students love.

You can extend the activities and turn them into a great writing lesson also. They can write from a different point of view, keep a diary and write a story from that. I have included a fun activity in which the students make a habitat for a gummy worm. Then, they take notes on what their gummy worm does over the weekend. The students can then turn this into their own story.
