How Do You Play Blast of Fun?

  1. Setup:
    • Gather all the game materials: lesson plans, reading passages, vocabulary cards, comprehension question task cards, and Blast of Fun activity cards. You will also need to gather materials for the Blast of Fun minute challenges. You can keep a tote going all year long to keep these supplies in.
  2. Introduction:
    • Explain the rules and objectives. Let students know that correct answers to the comprehension questions will unlock exciting Blast of Fun activities.
  3. Reading:
    • Present the reading passage to the class. Encourage students to pay attention and understand the content.
  4. Answering Questions:
    • Distribute the comprehension question task cards. Students work individually or in teams to answer these questions based on the reading passage.
  5. Blast of Fun Time:
    • For each correct answer, a student or team picks a Blast of Fun activity card. Set a timer for one minute and let the fun begin! Activities can include quick games, challenges, or creative tasks.
  6. Repeat and Enjoy:
    • Continue with more rounds of reading, questions, and Blast of Fun activities. This keeps the excitement and engagement levels high throughout the lesson.
  7. Wrap-Up:
    • Conclude the game with a discussion. Reflect on the reading passage and the activities. Encourage students to share what they’ve learned and enjoyed.

Blast of Fun is more than just a game—it’s a dynamic way to reinforce learning, build vocabulary, and make education an enjoyable adventure. I’ve seen firsthand how it boosts student engagement and makes learning memorable.
